Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

 

Candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent qualification in any discipline from a recognized University, Institution, or Board.

Applicants should also have basic computer knowledge and possess a valid computer certification.

 

Additional Eligibility Conditions

 

1. Nationality & Domicile

The applicant must be a citizen of India and a domicile of the State of Odisha.

 

2. Odia Language Requirement

Candidates must be able to read, write, and speak the Odia language.

They should have studied Odia as a subject in the H.S.C. (10th) examination or any equivalent exam, or must have passed a language test in Odia equivalent to the Middle School standard.

 

3. Qualification from Outside Odisha

Candidates who have obtained their educational qualifications from institutions outside Odisha must provide proof of equivalence issued by a recognized University / Institution / Council / Board of Odisha.

They must also submit proof that their institution is affiliated with a recognized University or Board.

 

4. Grade / Grade-Point Certificates

Applicants who submit mark sheets showing grades or grade points must provide a certificate indicating the numerical equivalent marks from the concerned examination authority.

 

Without this conversion proof, the candidate may not be considered eligible.

 

5. Government Employees

Government employees who meet the required educational qualifications and age criteria can apply.

However, they must inform their department head in writing and submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their employer before the document verification stage.

·      Minimum Age: 21 Years

·      Maximum Age: 42 Years (candidate must have been born not earlier than 1st January 1984 and not later than 1st January 2005)

·      SC / ST / SEBC / Women / Ex-Servicemen: Upper age relaxable by 5 years (up to 47 years)

·      PwD candidates (permanent disability of 40% and above): Upper age relaxable by 10 years

·      PwD belonging to SEBC/SC/ST categories: Cumulative age relaxation of 15 years

·      A candidate coming under more than one category shall be eligible for only one benefit of relaxation, which shall be considered most beneficial to him/her.

·      PwD category with temporary disability will not avail age relaxation and will not be considered for subsequent selection processes.

·      Date of Birth mentioned in the High School Certificate or equivalent certificate issued by the concerned Board / Council will only be accepted as age proof.

·     Unreserved (UR) / SEBC Category: Rs. 500/- (Rupees Five Hundred only) – Non-refundable and non-adjustable

·     Scheduled Tribe (ST) / Scheduled Caste (SC) / PwD Category: Rs. 200/- (Rupees Two Hundred only) – Non-refundable and non-adjustable

SSB Odisha Junior Assistant & Junior Clerk Recruitment 2026: Selection Process

The selection of candidates will be based on two stages:

 

1.      Written Examination

2.      Computer Skill Test

The total marks for the recruitment process are 250.

General English (Graduation Level) – 60 Marks

General Knowledge & Current Affairs – 40 Marks

General Mathematics (HSC Standard) – 40 Marks

Reasoning & Mental Ability – 60 Marks

 

Marking Scheme

 

+2 marks for each correct answer

–0.50 marks for each incorrect answer

 

Minimum Qualifying Marks

 

Unreserved Category: 40%

SC / ST / SEBC / PwD: 30%

 

Computer Skill Test

 

Total Marks: 50

Duration: 1 Hour

 

Minimum Qualifying Marks: 20 marks (for all categories)

 

Shortlisting & Document Verification

 

Candidates will be shortlisted for the Computer Skill Test based on their Written Exam performance, up to two times the number of vacancies (category-wise).

Candidates who qualify both tests will be called for Document Verification at the SSB Office.

 

Final Merit List

 

The final selection will be based on the combined marks of the Written Test and Computer Skill Test after successful document verification.

 

In case of a tie, merit will be decided based on:

 

Higher percentage in Bachelor’s Degree (up to two decimals)

Date of Birth (older candidate preferred)

 

Examination Centers

 

The Written Test will be conducted in the following five zones:

Balasore, Berhampur, Bhubaneswar, Jeypore, Sambalpur

The Computer Skill Test and Document Verification will be held in Bhubaneswar.

 

Facility for PwD Candidates

 

Candidates with 40% or more permanent disability can avail scribe facility and compensatory time. They must arrange their own scribe and submit the required details in the prescribed format available on the SSB website.

 

How to Apply

·         Candidates must submit their application online through the official website of the State Selection Board, Odisha – www.ssbodisha.ac.in.

·         Before filling out the form, carefully read all instructions provided in the official notification.

·         While applying, candidates should enter the total percentage of marks obtained in their Bachelor’s (+3) degree, converting CGPA to percentage according to the formula of their respective university or institution.

·         Upload the required documents including a recent passport-size photograph (taken within the last 15 days), scanned signature, and left-hand thumb impression. All images must be clear and visible, otherwise the application may be rejected.

·         The application fee must be paid online through SB Collect. Applications without successful fee payment will not be accepted. Ensure the Application ID is entered correctly during payment.

·         After completing the payment, candidates can download their submitted application form from the SSB website after 48 hours and keep it safe for future reference and document verification.

·         Applicants should submit the form well before the deadline to avoid last-minute issues.

·         No corrections or edits will be allowed after final submission, so candidates should check all details carefully before submitting.
